Little ol’ moi…
I was born in Arkansas to an Air Force family and as a result have lived in multiple states and countries, including England and Japan. After earning my undergraduate degree, I landed in Chicago where I’ve lived, laughed, loved and learned for over fifteen years.
I’m as comfortable in a warehouse as a conference room, and as effective strategizing a product launch with giddy entrepreneurs as finessing the latest campaign of a Fortune 100 client. My modest beginnings in the trenches of a direct mail lettershop pushed me to recognize the price of premium performance and how I ultimately would measure success. I was pressed to make my way, by making a move.
Sometime after earning my MBA, I entered a new world by teaming up with a colleague and becoming one of a two-person start up agency that has since grown to employ over 40 professionals. Some of my work has been great, and, in retrospect, there are some things that I would approach differently were I to have them to do again. I believe a little humility goes a long way in enabling a marketer to remain open to improving strategies and not falling victim to a myopic or self-indulgent vision at the detriment of goals.
All of my professional experiences have been invaluable in helping me to acquire a broad understanding of the marketing landscape. I strive to continuously refine my strategic insights into channel strengths/weaknesses. I strongly believe there’s a channel for every place and a place for every channel! Complemented by a practical acumen to know how to best execute and meet objectives, these strategic insights can be efficiently realized or adjusted as needed. Though we might wish it sometimes, we don’t market in a vacuum. Recognizing the need to adjust a campaign strategy and responding readily is arguably more important than the initial marketing strategy formulation.
